How-To: Flawless Face

So I have a confession- I used to be a total makeup disaster. I had pretty awful acne and I thought the best way to deal with it was to slather on as much full-coverage foundation as possible. Oh yeah, and I used a shade or two darker than I should have because I thought it would make me look "tan". Yeah, I was a hot mess. Minus the hot. But over the years I have really taken the time to educate myself on what works for me and what doesn't. I've read beauty books, flipped through magazine after magazine, watched hours of beauty videos, and sampled out basically every product imaginable. I am definitely not claiming to be an expert, but I get asked quite often what my face makeup routine is so I thought I might as well share it with all of you!

Keep in mind that I have fair, combination-oily skin so the products or methods I use may not be for everyone. Oh and feel free to share your routine in the comments below!

I always start my morning with a cleansing scrub, toner, and moisturizer to clean off my face and get it makeup ready. I won't go into details about all that stuff though, if you'd like a morning skin-care routine post let me know.

Step 1: I squeeze about a dime-sized amount of my Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer and an equal amount of primer (right now it's Victoria's Secret Airbrush FX Oil-Free) onto the back of my hand. I mix the two products together and apply it all over my face. I really like to mix in my primer with any full-face products I use because it creates a really smooth, light foundation that gives just the right amount of coverage.

Step 2: I break out the Glamoflauge again and use it alone as a concealer on any blemishes. I seriously cannot rave enough about Glamoflauge, it's only $6 at Walmart and it is seriously the most versatile thing ever.

Step 3: To conceal the dark circles under my eyes, I use Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. I first heard about it from MissGlamorazzi (who I love!) and it really is a great drugstore dupe for YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch. I actually like the formula of Maybelline's a little better because it gives a bit more coverage.

Step 4: I set all of the liquid make-up with powder. I swear by e.l.f. Healthy Glow Bronzer in Luminance. It has a really light, pretty glow to it and it gives my pale skin a bit of color without being orange. (Note: After trying to grab the link to it on e.l.f's website, I noticed that it's no longer there! Not sure if it's out of stock or discontinued, but either way this is a very sad day for me. I managed to track it down on Amazon, but it's like $5 more than it should be so I'll keep searching around and see what I can find).

Step 5: I like to add a bit of extra coverage and staying power on all the areas I concealed with an e.l.f. Mineral Powder Concealer. This is definitely not essential, but I find that it keeps the concealer under my eyes from creasing.

Step 6: For the finishing touch, I apply a bit of NARS Blush in Orgasm. It's kind of a splurge, but it's a beautiful color that goes on super smooth and lasts all day.

And that's it for my face makeup! Keep an eye out for future posts on my eye and lip routine!
